Another strong tournament by John Hall. With just a single loss to second place finisher Erwin Casareno, John Hall wins the Open Section of the final tournament of the SCC's 2007-08 chess season. Also at 5.5 points was Martin Maister (Wu gets 3rd by a tie break formula). Complete results can be found here.

U1700 Section

SCC Vice President Maurice Smith wins his second tournament in a row with a score of 6.5 points. As in the Open Section, we had a tie at 5.5 points with both Steven Douglas and David Farrant evenly matched in points (Farrant gets 3rd place by virtue of the tie break formula). Spring Swiss '08

John Hall played a nearly perfect tournament. Only a draw with Yuanling Yuan prevented John from marking up victories in all 8 rounds. Complete results can be found here.

U1700 Section

3. Masoud Jizan (5 points)

Maurice Smith clinched first place by drawing Andrew Philip in the last round. Jim Roe was all alone in second at 5.5 points. But at 5 points, we had Masoud Jizan, Dean Ward and Andrew Philips (Jizan gets 3rd by a tie break). Complete results are here.

2007-08 Club Championship
